WHO WE ARE:
Youth Volunteer Corps of Hampton Roads (YVCHR) engages youth (age 11-18) in meaningful volunteer opportunities that positively impact the lives of others. Established in 2009, YVCHR is the first YVC affiliate in the state of Virginia and is one of more than 40 affiliates internationally.
MISSION STATEMENT:
We engage youth in team-based service experiences that build life and work skills while inspiring a lifetime ethic of service.
VISION STATEMENT:
Communities defined by compassion, selflessness, and respect for others.
RACIAL EQUITY PLEDGE:
We pledge to continue our efforts to:
• Recruit youth who represent the diversity of their community, which is one of the four fundamental goals established at our founding in 1987.
• Promote inclusivity in YVC actions and in youth service projects.
• Educate youth in learning about those who are different than themselves, emphasizing that all people deserve to be seen, heard, welcomed, included and respected.
And we pledge to intensify our efforts to:
• Increase racial diversity on our board and staff to better represent the communities we serve.
• Use a racial equity lens as we make our everyday decisions.
