No kid should have to sleep on the floor unless they WANT to. Grab your gloves and glasses and help us make beds for kids in the Hampton Roads area.

Priority will be given to youth that have not participated in this project in the past. This is a stipulation set forth by our grant funder for this project. Thank you for your understanding.

Location: Hampton Adult and Alternative Learning Center

Details: Youth will work at a variety of work stations set up in an assembly line fashion to build twin sized bed frames for children who are in need of a bed. Stations include sanding, hole marking, hole drilling, head board and foot board assembly, staining, and branding.

Youth needed: 20-25

Special Considerations: Youth must be at least 12 years old and be prepared to wear a mask for the duration of the project regardless of vaccination status. Safety glasses and work gloves will be needed. It is highly recommended that families purchase gloves at this time due to the current COVID situation. YVCHR has small safety glasses but if prescription eye glasses are worn by the volunteer a larger pair of safety glasses will need to be purchased.
