Meet Our Team Leaders:

Denisse Aquino: I am a sophomore at Christopher Newport University. I major in Biology and minor both in Psychology and Leadership Studies. I was born in Bolivia and came to the U.S.A. at the age of seven. I hope to one day become a pediatrician because I love kids. I like to volunteer and do creative activities. I like to play my violin as a way to relax and for fun. I also like to run as a physical activity. My favorite type of food is my mom’s cooking, one specific plate called “plato chino” which is a mix of french fries, macaroni, steak, peas and other vegetables. It’s very delicious! If I had a superpower, it would be to be able to transport wherever I’d like to go including the past. My favorite Disney movie is Brave because I admire Merida’s strength and independence. I love volunteering and cannot get enough of it! It’s super fun and very rewarding to do something productive that you know will benefit someone else. By working with YVC, I would like to learn different ways of interacting with the volunteers and ways of getting them engaged within their community. I would love to see the youth volunteers grow with the organization and am looking forward to the years to come.
Linda Oh: I am a 3rd year studying Biology at Christopher Newport University. I hope through YVC I can make an impact on other people in a positive way and allow others to leave an impact on me. There is just so much to learn and give back into people and into the community. I love volunteering, especially with teens, because it brings out the best in everyone. This personally helps me to see the best in people throughout my everyday life. My plan after college is to attend dental school. My ultimate goal is to start my own non-profit to serve people through dentistry. I love getting involved and taking part in my community. At CNU I am part of many different organizations such as University Orchestra, CNU Quartet, Pre Dental Club, Zeta Tau Alpha, and Students for Christ. In my free time, I love watching movies (action and comedy always), going to the gym, spending time outdoors, and hanging out with friends. I secretly substitute the apple with a cookie a day; I have a huge sweet tooth.
